About Rancho Del Mar

Rancho Del Mar is considered to be the rural part of Del Mar, California with much of the real estate here zoned for horses. Homes in this neighborhood are typically priced around two million dollars.

Rancho Del Mar is comprised of spacious estates that were built on over-sized lots. Home Owners Association dues are modest and residents enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and valley. It’s also known as Rancho Del Mar Estates because of the expansive homes in this area.

This community is served by the Solana Beach School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District. Students may attend highly ranked Solana Vista Elementary School, Earl Warren Middle School, and Torrey Pines High School. Some families choose private schooling from facilities such as the Winston School of San Diego, St. James Academy, and Del Mar Montessori. There are several colleges within minutes such as MiraCosta College.

Rancho Del Mar is only 15 minutes from the beach and the freeway is easily accessible. This community is practically surrounded by golf venues but it is very close to the southern edge of the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. This premier club is owned by Madeleine Ann Pickens and offers golf, tennis, dining, and facilities for special occasions. The course was designed by Joseph Lee and transitions from a winter Rye to a summer Bermuda grass to keep the greens perfect all year long.

There are several shopping centers in this region and many merchants especially along Del Mar Heights Road. Shoppers enjoy places like Beachside Del Mar, Del Mar Highlands Town Center, and Piazza Carmel Shopping Center. Del Mar’s downtown village features many shops and boutiques.

City attractions include the Del Mar Racetrack, the Del Mar Antique Show, and the Torrey Pines State Beach.
